Aloe Vera for Quick and Easy Weight Loss

Aloe Vera, also called ‘the miracle ingredient’ scores major points for its versatility and ease of use.

Its usage spans across everything from the treatment for burns and cuts to skin rejuvenation. It is now slowly and steadily making its place as a supplement for quick and easy weight loss. Daily use of Aloe Vera has proven to increase metabolism, clear the system, and improve overall health. In this article, we shall take a closer look into the nutritional facts, benefits, and side effects of using Aloe Vera for weight loss.

Nutritional Facts

  • Vitamins and Minerals

It is rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, E, and B12, along with calcium, copper, selenium, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. In fact, Aloe Vera is one of the best sources of vitamin C – one cup of Aloe Vera juice contains approximately 9 grams of Vitamin C!

  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Fatty acids, such as cholesterol, campesterol, and lupeol, and found in abundance in Aloe Vera Gel. These acids contribute to the therapeutic, antiseptic properties of aloe vera.

  • Rich Nutritional Composition

Its nutritional composition includes beneficial enzymes such as alias, amylase, and lipase. They play an integral role in the breakdown of fats and sugars.

Benefits

  • Organic Detoxification

Aloe Vera is full of antioxidants which prevent the formation of toxins, and clean the system. They work as natural detoxifiers, and replenish and rejuvenate the gut. This, in turn, speeds up the weight loss process and clears up the skin.

  • Metabolism Booster

It is rich in vitamin B which provides it with fat burning properties. It converts all the fat stored in the body into energy and hence boosts metabolism.

  • Natural Laxatives

Owing to its nutritional composition, it works as a natural laxative when consumed in small amounts. It replenishes and detoxifies the gut from within and aids in the expulsion of waste from the body.

Side Effects

Unless you maintain proper precaution, the side effects of Aloe Vera can be adverse to health. It is best to consume it in short doses for short periods. When taken in large amounts, or across a long term period, it can create issues with the digestive system. These are generally issues such as diarrhoea, stomach cramps, muscle weakness, and general gastrointestinal discomfort. This can increase the risk of dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.

You should seek counselling from your physician before consuming it to lose weight. This is because it can be harmful for certain people, such as those who are pregnant, have digestive problems, or are on certain medications. Some studies also raise concern for certain compounds, such as aloin, which can have carcinogenic effects.

Verdict

When consumed in small amounts, Aloe Vera can be a useful way to lose weight quickly. However, proper precautions must be taken at all times. It is highly recommended that you speak with your doctor before you begin consuming it.
